There were no problems or concerns for England, the two-time Euro runners-up, in their opening game of the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League, defeating their neighbors England’s Player Ratings Ireland 2-0, thanks to the excellent performance of Declan Rice, the Arsenal midfielder. Who both scored and passed, closing out the game in the first half.

England Player Ratings

Jordan Pickford – 7 – Had one tough save in the first ten minutes, but could have just laid out a mat to watch as Ireland only managed to create one or two more close-range efforts for the rest of the period.

Levi Colwill – 6 – Doesn’t stand out at left back, which is not his best position, but was moved to play there because Chelsea were short of a left back at the time. When he had to play for the national team, his performance was average. His defense was solid, but his offense was lacking.

Marc Guehi – 7 – Combined well with Maguire, he was a tank who was a physical presence against the home team’s centre forward, and there was nothing to complain about throughout the game.

Harry Maguire – 7 – Returned to the starting line-up after missing Euro 2024 through injury, and there was no problem in this game, where there were actually a number of chances to play with the ball as England were mostly aggressive.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7

Returned to his usual position at right-back and did well, contributing England’s Player Ratings to both attack and defence. With this form, he should be no different than first-choice right-back for the long term, unlike in recent times.

Jack Grealish – 8 – A surprise name to be named สมัคร ufabet as a regular in central midfield, when in reality he is a regular starter and a substitute for Man City. But he was excellent in this game, especially the 2-0 goal where he showed off his technique and focused more on direction than strength.

Cobbie Menu – 6 – Didn’t get to play much with the ball. Positioned as the lowest midfielder in the midfield, he was responsible for the defense before the defenders. When England were dominating the game, Menu didn’t get to the ball very often. He was also shown a yellow card too early in the 13th minute.

Declan Rice – 9 – Was the star of the first half, deployed as a right midfielder, not having to focus too much on defense and having the freedom to add to the attack, leading to the goal that gave us a 1-0 lead and also provided an assist for Jack Grealish to make it 2-0.

Anthony Gordon – 7

Had a couple of chances to finish himself but was a bit dull and squandered his chances. Overall, he was brilliant and kept the Irish defense in suspense.

Bukayo Saka – 7 – Like Gordon, he is a flashy, dangerous player on the right wing but unfortunately had a golden opportunity to make it 3-0 in stoppage time but couldn’t beat Caoimhin Kelleher’s save.

Harry Kane – 6 – A target man in his own right and had a fun time dealing with Irish defenders, only managing to win some of his one-on-one duels. He may have been quiet overall but he wasn’t terrible.
